Dr. Schell’s research examines how people and animals interact – and sometimes conflict – within urban environments. He also studies the influence of socio-ecological factors, such as landscape, income and human density on human-wildlife interactions.

Stacey, certified volunteer administrator, manages volunteer support for the Grit City Carnivore Project. Currently, volunteers are assisting in data analysis and community outreach efforts. Stacey works as a team member for the deployment of research equipment during quarterly field seasons.

Whether in the classroom, at an event or posing for a selfie, Gritchen works to foster appreciation for her often-maligned species. Her calm and quiet demeanor lends the GCCP team a welcome counterpoint to the chaos of project activities.
Volunteer Photo Tagging Team
We could not conduct this research without the dedicated team of volunteers and students, meticulously reviewing each image captured by our network of motion-sensitive cameras. After the 2024 summer data collection season, the project has captured over 380,000 images.
